Unit 9- Electrostatics
3/30: Today you will be introduced to the next unit we will be discussing: Electrostatics.
Please watch the Bill Nye video link and answer the questions as on the worksheet as you watch.
Nothing is due to me. This is just to get you thinking about the next unit.

3/31: Today you will be "taking notes" on Electric forces and Gravitational forces.
I would suggest printing out the notes sheet first and then watch the videos and take notes while you are watching the clips.
Then checking your notes with the completed notes that are posted as well.

4/1: Happy April 1st! Just so everyone knows, it's my half birthday today! and no, that's not an April Fools joke :)
I miss our conversations in class and seeing you guys! If we were in class, I would have brought in cupcakes! (but to be real, you know I would have forgotten the cupcakes... so maybe it's good we are at home).
Okay, back to physics... today you will be working through some practice Electrostatic Force math problems. This is called Coulomb's Law.
Remember that for the letter "k" in the formula, you always use the number 9x10^9. This is a CONSTANT number, so even if the problems don't give it to you, you still put it in for "k".
Use the notes from yesterday to help you if you are unsure of how to solve. If you are still struggling, please send me a text and I can send you an example video.
Please send me your completed practice problems so that I can check your work!
Also, I would love to hear from you, even if it's just to say hi! :)

4/3: Congratulations! You have made it to Spring Break. Finish Coulomb's Law Online Lab and send it to Mikula!
4/13: Welcome back! I hope you all had a nice Spring Break and enjoyed some sun... and rain yesterday!
I sent out an email to parents asking them to provide me information on if you will be continuing with my class or accepting your grade as of March 13th and stopping the class. Please have them send me an email back, if they have not done so, just so I know who to keep track of on my end. :)
Today, you will be learning more about electrostatics and the three ways an object can be charged.
I have videos for you to watch and a notes page to take notes on while you watch the videos.
Please read the notes I wrote out before you watch videos. It will help you understand what is going on in the videos.
So first, print out the notes page below.

4/15: Hopefully everyone is understanding everything okay! Please don't forget that you can contact me for instruction if you feel you need further assistance. Today, please continue to work on your lab and prepare yourself for a short quiz tomorrow! I know this is short notice, but remember that any grade I put in can only improve your grade. :)
So, if you haven't already, finish the lab and submit that to me (due Thursday).
The quiz tomorrow will be over what static electricity is, Coulomb's Law, Coulomb's law formula, and friction, conduction, and induction.

4/20: Happy Monday everyone!
Do you have light switches in your house that control the on and off features of your lights? Can you turn toast a bagel when the toaster is plugged into the wall? What if it wasn't plugged into the wall? It would need some other source of ELECTRICITY.... right?
Today, we will be learning about Ohm's Law, but before you take the notes, watch these video clips so you understand what type of electricity we are discussing...flowing (current) electricity.

4/21: Please complete the Ohm's Law practice worksheet below and send me the completed work when you are done.
Use your notes from yesterday to help you!
Also, watch the Series Circuit video and the Parallel Circuit video to familiarize yourself with the types of circuits we will be talking learning about in the next few days.
The test for this unit will be on Thursday, April 30th.

The next part of the unit is learning about Circuits. There are 2 types we will be learning about: Series Circuit and Parallel Circuit.
Those 2 types of circuits can be combined to make a Combination Circuit.
Today, we will focus on Series Circuit.
Please watch the videos and take notes on the notes page as you follow along.
